Jade

Yet another job interview. Jade. Quite an interesting company! They have their own programming language (also called Jade), which is also a (non relational) database management system. Looks a lot like Pascal, but it's object orientated, jit compiled and comes with all the source code you will ever need. Pretty neat. It's also a very mature company with 108 developers in Christchurch and an established management structure.
The only problem is that in a few years from now, when I start looking for a new job, they will ask what I did in my previous employment. Then I'd have to say something like "I used a programming language you probably haven't even heard of". Right now, however, I feel like crossing that bridge when I get there.

Oh, I almost forgot: Jade is eight kilometers away from the hostel, but in order to get to know the city, I decided to walk. After two kilometers, it started to rain. And as if that alone wasn't bad enough, they also made me sit a test. Not a math or programming test, but one of these which-is-next tests. Like "a b c d ?" -- replace the '?' by either 'a', 'b', 'c', 'd' or 'e'. I hate these tests, because the solution is so arbitrary. For every letter there are lots of arguments to support it! (not for this example, though) But anyway, I think I did reasonably well and maybe what I said when they showed me some Jade code is considered more important than my stupidity when it comes to alphabetic interpolation...

Due to the hard rain, I didn't take any pictures today.
