Labour Day
This is day 16 of my journey, and today I almost lost all my money. I'm such an idiot! While I'm in New Zealand, I usually carry my money in a flat bag strapped around my belly. That way it can't be stolen, even when I sleep. The only times I take it off are when I'm in the shower. Today I forgot to put it on again. How stupid is that?!? So I got out to get some breakfast, when it suddenly hit me. I literally run back to the hostel, rushed into the shower and luckily, nobody used it after me, so my money was still there. I might be an idiot, but I'm also a very lucky duck!

Today is Labour Day, and ironically enough, nobody is working. So no interviews today, either. It's the perfect day to walk up to Mount Victoria, where you have a perfect view over the city and the harbor. They say some of the scenes of Lord Of The Rings have been shot there. I haven't seen the movies, but the area literally smelled like elves and hobbits. I wonder what they do now that the shootings are over. Just like R2D2, it must be terribly difficult for a hobbit to get a part in any other movie.
When I was back in the city, I found a new quarter called Cuba. It mainly consists of Cuba Street (duh!) and a few by side roads. Nice area, and not as posh as Lambton Quay, too. I still haven't found the library. All in due time, I guess.

In the evening I went back to the hostel bar, hoping to meet Tanja again. She wasn't there, but I talked to a guy from Holland instead. He's been traveling around the world for almost one year now and he's not thinking of going home just yet. Obviously, I'm not the only lucky duck around here...
