2007-06-04 More Forms To Fill Out
My "Doc Pack" arrived today. It contains an Expression Of Interest form (40 pages) along with a how-to-fill-out manual (14 pages), a form called "Application For Evaluation Of International Qualifications" with fill-out-hints (18+5 pages), a medical form (16 pages) and miscellaneous forms for an IRD number and an overseas driver license (4 pages). That's a total of 97 pages of distilled red tape. Well, I will simply consider this a cruel test on how committed I am to going to New Zealand. A test that I will not fail, although it will eat up my next weekend.

Sherlock Holmes movies. How many are there? It must be a triple-digit number by now, I am sure. Some of them are actually more enjoyable than the books, but that's maybe because a twist in the end usually works much better in moving pictures than it does in written words. Also, the charismatic characters of Mr. Holmes and Mr. Watson call for actors. "Elementary, dear Watson. Elementary." -- this phrase needs a face, don't you think?
So why don't they make more Sherlock Holmes movies, instead of yet another James Bond sequel? Is it because Sherlock is considered old-fashioned? Is it because Bond girls are a better viewing rate booster than good old Watson? I don't know, but if I would be in charge, Rupert Everett would be Sherlock Holmes, and Daniel Craig would be his chauffeur. That would set things right!

My favorite Sherlock Holmes version is The Great Mouse Detective.
Disney's Basil? I've got it on DVD!
Is it wrong that I had a crush on that mouse? He was a cutie.
That depends... how old were you? The movie is from 1986, did you see it on the big screen?
