2007-06-18 Big Bug Battle
Axel and I had a tough battle against a lot of bugs today. My initial tactics ("bugs? we don't have bugs here!" and "ignore then while you still can") had proven themselves outdated and Axel pointed out that "ignoring them won't make them go away." So we worked out an elaborate plan to kill one bug at a time. Little did we know that they were collaborating. Not only were they organized in an excellent network, they were all spawned by one evil over-bug. This is why the first chapter of the battle didn't go so well for us. One of these little spawns of evil even set my head on fire. Bad mistake, because fortune favours the bald. We set up a distraction, penetrated their perimeter, bridged their security, broke through their final line of defense and got to the big bug just in time for lunch. Save game.
Over lunch (Döner to go, Conny is ill again) we discussed our final strike and carried it out without an effort (details are eyes only, sorry). Victory, rejoicings and embraces. Our kung fu is the best. ph33r our l33t skillz!

My word of the day: "The shit hit the fan." Again, it's more of a phrase and I know it. But I refuse to change the name of this category for such banalities as facts or certainties. It qualified itself because we don't have that expression in German. The German counterpart translates to "the shit is steaming", which isn't half as funny.

Last but not least I was on the search for a new operating system. I was thinking of buying a Mac, because they look so fine, but I've decided against it. After all, one should not judge a book by it's cover. And MacOS still is a little too incompatible for my taste. Today I exposed myself to Knoppix. It leaves the harddisk alone if you want it to and it looks fine as well. Anyway, after a while I realized that I'm not really ready to try something new. I'm a creature of habit. Sad but true. Windows may not be the best operating system, but it's like a mother-in-law: Better keep it, you never know what might follow!
