2007-06-21 MegaTokyo rulez!
Last Friday I wrote about MegaTokyo in my blog. That was the day I found it. Now one week has passed and I've read it from start to end. What an amazing comic! And it's all freely available on that site! It tells the story of two guys, Piro and Largo, who are stranded in Tokyo, Japan. While Piro finds a job to support both of them, Largo lives in a dreamworld full of Ninjas and Zombies. Surprisingly enough, they meet two girls and get involved in one of the most complicated relationships I've ever heard of. Having a cute robot girl living at their place and meeting ghosts from their past doesn't make their lives simpler, either. If it wasn't for Piro's conscience Seraphim (a pretty lady with wings sitting on his left shoulder), things could turn out bad.
What I like most about this comic is not the story, it's the pictures. And what I like most about the pictures are the girls. This is hard to explain without making it sound weird, so I won't even try. But I sure wish I could draw legs as good as Fred Gallagher!
When I got home early from an astoundingly boring day at the office, I decided to play Descent, which is one of my three favourite computer games ever (the other two being Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and X-Wing). I haven't played it on this computer before, and it turned out it doesn't run. The problem is not that the game is from 1994 and therefore not compatible. It is. But my computer is way to fast! Can you imagine? Too fast? When it comes to computers, that's almost a contradiction in terms! But when the gentle up and down of my ship is turned into an annoyingly quick vibration and the evil robots move faster than my eyes can follow, it may be time to look for a new favourite game. Damn.
So, I'm looking for a game that
- will allow me to shoot a lot
(I don't like shooting humans, so make it aliens or robots)
- can be played by more than one player and over the Internet
- is not expensive
(open source would be nice here, but I'm not that naive)
- does not require the most sophisticated graphics board in the world
- won't bore me after a week or so.
Any suggestions?

I like that shirt Largo was wearing in the first few strips that said "Neverwinter Nights."
I haven't been able to get NVN2 yet (hell, I haven't even finished Hordes of the Underdark). But maybe I will soon.
(yes, I know I'm awesome.)
So that's what it must be like for a civilian to hear computer scientists talking amongst themselves. In other words: sorry, what?
It took me quite some time to wiki through all that. I didn't even know that Neverwinter Nights was a real game!
(hell yeah!)
