2007-06-10 I'm An Addict

When I got up this morning I continued writing a program that I started yesterday. Now it's one hour to midnight and my aching stomach reminds me that I haven't eaten all day. It's always the same when I hack stuff for myself -- I'm so lost in my thoughts that the world around me disappears. I think I went to the toilet a few times, but I cannot remember.

When you do something that you like and after a while it makes you feel bad, you should stop it. If you can't, you might wish to consider the possibility that you're addicted.

Not a problem, though, because tomorrow I'm going cold turkey. It's about time, because I need to do my laundry, clean the kitchen and buy food. I have a week off and I do not intend to spend it exclusively on the computer.

Ten years ago, Dennis and I used to watch Lexx (The Dark Zone, not the series). We both liked it for the obvious reasons: confuse plot, special effects, starships and the girl. Recently, I made the mistake to watch it again. In 1997, the special effects might have been okay, but nowadays they make the Lexx universe appear quite cheap. The plot is even worse than I remember, and Eva Habermann's English doesn't help either.

What is it about old movies? Young Sherlock Holmes is more than twice as old, and still a masterpiece. The special effects are legendary by now and the plot is brilliant. But Lexx... I don't know.

Did you know that Holmes never actually says "Elementary, Watson", in any of the books?

Does going cold turkey include not blogging?

Neither did Captain Kirk ever say "Beam me up, Scotty"! And Rick never said "Play it again, Sam".
(I'm a smart ass, I know...)

Not that cold ^^;
