2008-01-20 Weekend II

What else did I do, except for relaxing?

Shopping. I bought food. No big deal.

Laundry. Tree machines full of bedclothes, dishclothes and towels. Aimless as I usually am, I had to spend the night on the sofa, because the bedclothes were not dry. That's what you get for washing them at 10 pm. Duh.

Phonecalls. A few 0800 numbers to get things going. (Note for my German readers: 0800 numbers are freecalls and often used by large companies like Telecom or the IRD for customer service. Not phone sex.)

Messing around with ftp. I tried to set up my own ftp server. Didn't get very far, though. I can reach it from within (via ftp localhost), but that's about it. tracert from outside stop right at my entrance door. Port mapping is switched on in the router, the Windows firewall has the appropriate exceptions and everything should work just fine. Only it doesn't. *sigh*

Messing around with Apache. That was plan B. Unfortunately, I destroyed the httpd.conf file. At that point I got a little demotivated.

Learning a lot of stuff from Lifehacker. Great stuff. Now I have a better understanding of how the Internet works. And found lots of new ways to download free music from the Internet, too. Lifehacker rocks!

Signing up for hang gliding lessons. Without even leaving the house. Life is so simple. Nowadays, you don't even need to get up from your sofa to make your first step towards learning how to fly.

And of course: Chatting. Back to the roots for now.
