2008-01-16 Are You Happy?

The other day I chatted with one of my old bosses. He was always one of the good guys, so I enjoyed it a lot. Of all the questions that people had asked me about moving to New Zealand, he asked the simplest, and yet the most difficult to answer: "Are you happy?"
I thought about it for a while, and I'm afraid I have to say no. Not yet. But almost. In fact, I'm as close as I can get under the circumstances. After all, I am in New Zealand! And I have been really happy earlier this year. As in completely happy. If it wasn't for some weird and random rules (namely immigration laws) I'd be completely happy very soon. I said it before, and I'll say it again: we will figure it out eventually. But right now, things are more complicated than they should have to be.

Yeah, but other than that I'm completely happy. Nice Kiwi co-workers, nice country, nice opening hours; everything's nice. I wonder why I didn't come here right after graduation...
