2008-04-21 Paperwork

On the weekend I received an invitation to apply for residency. Which is good. Awesome, actually. It basically means two things:

1) More red tape. Medical examination (the old one expired), x-ray (dto.), police clearance (dto.), certified copy of my passport. Thank goodness it's a quiet time at Jade, because I'll have to take at least half a day off to see the consul and two doctors. What makes it all so annoying is that I did all that stuff in December, but all that expired three weeks ago. Rats! Well, never mind. I can endure all that with a smile*, because

2) Getting a visa for Kristine will be (a little bit) easier once I'm a resident!

* I can swear and smile at the same time!

So what advantages does residency have for you?

My current work visa expires at the end of 2009. Residency is unlimited.

And 2), of course.

Yes, those are both very good reasons.
