Consider the following (imaginary) conversation:

A: "I don't have a car."
B: "Why not?"
A: "Because I don't want to make myself dependent on machines."
B: "Er... what do you mean, exactly?"
A: "Don't you understand? What if tomorrow all cars stop working? Hell will break lose! Nobody will be able to get to work anymore, for example! Hospitals will be in trouble, too. I say don't make yourself too dependent on machines."
B: "Well, what are you going to do instead? Walk?"
A: "Exactly. That way I will save money, too."
B: "But it will take you ages to do the same thing you can do with your car in a couple of minutes."
A: "I don't care. I take the time. It's worth it. And car's are dangerous, too."
B: "Yes, they are. But would you rather not use a car, just because some people are idiots?"
A: "Yes. When I was young, there were no cars and we got along pretty well, too."
B: "Times change, you know."
A: "Ah, but not for me. I can live at my own speed if I decide to."

Would you say B has ridiculous arguments and behaves irrational? That's what I think, too. What if they were talking about the Internet, instead of cars? Read it again. It gets pretty close to what quite a lot of people out there think. Strange, isn't it?
