2008-02-16 Cancelled
Bah... bloody rain! I had it all planned out. Even today's blog post was already in my head. I was going to write this:
goggles: $15
Corsair Classic registration fee: $45
pool training: $4 each
surviving 750 m in the ocean: priceless
Beaten? Maybe. But it was worth it. Or it would have been. If they had not called it off. Bloody rain! Well, at least I got the whole load of stuff: a cap (see picture), a T-shirt (see picture), sweets (already gone), a bottle of water (dto) and a blue plastic thingy that looks remarkably like something I've seen on the Internet on a site I couldn't possibly show my mom. I wonder what it is...
On the way home I hitched a ride with the guy who provided the timing equipment. We were driving behind a car with two rubber dinghies on the hanger, when suddenly their rear bumper came off. Jeremy blew the horn and flashed the lights to let them know. (Jeremy is not his real name. I forgot his real name a minute after he told me... I'm making it up as I go along.) They totally don't get it, so Jeremy tries to get beside them, so that I can give them signs. Just when we're about to overtake, their license plate comes off and smashes onto the windshield.
Don't worry too much, this was the climax of the story. Nothing breaks, nobody gets hurt. At the next possible stop we all pull over, they fix what's left of the hanger, the drivers exchange business cards (there's a scratch in the paint from the license plate) and everybody lives happily ever after.
Now I have the rest of the day off to find out how to make Ubuntu recognize my sound card.
