2008-02-10 We Hit It Off Right Away

I'm a little sick today. Headaches and not the least desire to eat anything. So I just hang out on the couch and watch movies. I finished Cowboy Bebop, but I found the end disappointing. There are too many unhappy endings in real life. Movies and TV shows should have a happy end, dammit! Maybe I shouldn't have started with Pushing Daisies next. How can anyone expect a happy end from a show that's about dead people?

Doing nothing but sitting around all day (I'm even too smashed for emacs or hacking) gave me time to think about a lot of things. Nothing deep, just things, you know. For example:
A couple of phrases I've never learned in school. Strange, because if you don't already know what they mean, there's no way you can deduce it from the words it's composed of:
- to hit on someone -- nothing to do with punching
- to hit it off -- still no punching
- to make out -- usually happens inside
- to get it on -- wouldn't "in" be more appropriate? just asking...

My word of the day is a longer version of the second phrase:
to hit it off right away,
for the usual reason: I like the sound of it.
