Digital Is Always Better

This is a special shout-out to the music industry! Yesterday was Elvis's 30th death anniversary, but I didn't blog about it, because Elvis is not dead. He only went home.
Today, however, is another important anniversary: The Compact Disk became 25 years old. When CDs were first sold in 1982, one could buy two records for the price of one CD. The music industry's argument went somewhere along the line of "it's digital, and digital is always better". I bet they feel quite stupid nowadays, since people don't buy music anymore, they download it for free. Ironically enough, the development of the mp3 file format also started in 1982. In the long run, digital music was bound to ruin the industry, because it's much easier to clone. Remember the days when copying music meant you had to play a record, connect the record player to a tape recorder and stick around to stop the record when side A of the tape was full? I don't, because I'm too young, but I did the same with CDs. I prefer downloading mp3 files from the web, though. I might be adding insult to injury, but in the name of those who bought one CD instead of two records, I feel compelled to display some malicious joy here. That's what you get for introducing a new product for twice the price of its predecessor. Digital is always better. Duh!
