2007-05-13 Summer of '66

For half an hour I tried to translate a newspaper article about the German weight lifting championship in 1966 which appeared last summer in the local newspaper. I tried to preserve its style and spirit, but failed miserably.


So instead of a dazzling report about the reunion of the eight winners of the German Weight Lifting Championship in 1966, you have to be satisfied with this photo. My dad is the one on the right who holds the plate. He was seventeen when the picture was taken. I'm so proud of him. He was also in the team that defended the title in 1967. Can you imagine what it must be like to be the German champion of weight lifting before you're even allowed to drive? My dad was a cool cat when he was younger! And he was smart as well, which is why he quit smoking with ten ;-)
