2007-05-03 Silly Bad Robots
The relation between age and silliness of films and movies about robots that go bad is "the older, the sillier". I just watched one from 1966, where a bunch of robots mixed up good and bad. They held hostage the very people they were designed to serve and protect. The robot expert explained it that way: "All of their commands are binary, they consist of zeroes and ones. When given contradictory orders, it can sometimes happen that the meaning of zero and one is swapped and they do the opposite of what they should." That's almost as good as crossing the date line with a pocked radio in order to hear tomorrow's news.
I find it hard to believe that only three years later humans walked on the moon, or at least said they did.

I'm still knocked out, because my Kryptonite pills make me tired and I don't sleep well because I don't get enough air through my blocked nose. Fortunately I have next week off, so I am going to spend Monday in bed.
