2007-03-25 Spring Forward, Fall Back

I've been watching a lot of TV reruns lately, and it made me aware of a few things:
Jennifer Connelly was a cute kid. And she handled being thrown into Jim Hensons backyard quite well.
MacGyver sure doesn't have a way with women. They either become nuns after hanging out with him for a while or fake their death and betray him afterwards. I still like him much better than James Bond though, because he treats people kindly, despises guns and has a brain the size of a planet.
Soylent Green is made of people! Who would have thought that? I wonder if it also contains traces of furniture...

Carsten and Chrissi visited me today. We went for a long walk and Carsten told me about his job. He works as an advisor and implements business simulations for his clients. Sounds awfully interesting to me -- a little economy, a little guessing and a lot of mathematics. Maybe I should consider a career in financial math!

This morning I woke up late, only to notice that it's even later than I thought it would be: daylight saving time. I never managed to remember when to add and when to subtract an hour, until I came across this memory hook: "spring forward, fall back". In German, memory hooks are called Eselsbrücke, which translates back to jackass bridge. I have no idea why we call it that, but it's imaginative, isn't it?

Memo to myself: get on stickam more often.
