2007-03-05 Day One: Too Late
Okay, here it is, the report of day one of my job evaluation:
I got there at quarter past eight. That is very unusual, normally I drop in at ten or so. The morning was rather quiet, but everybody was in a rebellious mood. Things aren't going to well lately, because we all have been working overtime since November and there is no end in sight. Bad for the staff moral. Very bad. Also, it was much too loud for work the whole day long. Not that there are heavy machines or stuff, but everybody there tends to shout through the office as if they were alone.
Anyway, I made good progress with my current task: "implementation of a scalable, interactive control element for the display of rapidly changing database content". Sounds cool, doesn't it? Trust me, it's downright boring. On the other hand, it's a clearly defined and specified assignment, which is more than I can usually expect.
The thing we are working on is in beta testing since Friday, and at half past four the first bug reports came in. And that's where the fun starts. For the others, that is. I didn't get there earlier to leave later, so I held back my desire to find these bugs (it's not sarcastic, I really enjoy that!) and packed my things. I left at half past five with the resolution to enjoy the rest of the day at home. So that's what I'm doing now.
I'm going to watch Heroes (episode 14, "Distractions"), eat a few pieces of cake and have a nice cup of tea. Yeah, I'm a wild party animal, I know...

Letting the whole world (or at least these two or three people that might actually read this) know what I have to say is confusing. For example, what if my boss is going to read the text above? Well, at least then I will know what he is doing all day long *smile*
