2007-03-23 I'm A Southpaw
"Why don't you use the correct hand to write?" Luckily, you don't hear that very often nowadays. My dad, for example, is a left-handed by nature, but he was trained in school to write with his right hand. He does everything else with his left hand, like holding a screw-driver, for example. Obviously, our forefathers thought that left-handedness was a kind of flaw. Interesting that they didn't kill short or overweight people, isn't it?
I am left-handed myself, and I haven't experienced the slightest problems because of it in my entire life. Neither discrimination, nor trouble with technology or other devices. I hold scissors with my right hand, because it just won't work with left (try it -- the blades will be pushed apart and the paper will fold at best), but I didn't notice it until I was about 15 years old. Everything seems so normal to me, and I don't quite understand the fuss people make about it.
For example: There is a list of famous left-handed people, there are tons of books about the topic, and there is even a Left Handers' Day (on August 13th).
A funny thing at the end: in Arab culture, it is considered an insult to wave your left hand to greet somebody. There is a historical reason for this, of course, but if you ask me it's all a bunch of crap (check Wikipedia to get the joke).

I think I fell in love with Google. Not only do they have the best search engine ever, they also have blogger (which I have been using for 22 days without regret now), handle my emails, my calendar and my photos. If they ever decide to ask for money for their service, or worse, if they shut down completely, I'll be totally screwed. No company should have that much power, and I shouldn't make myself dependent on them, but they offer the best by far!
