2008-03-13 Bike! Jumper!

I bought a bike! And it was totally cheap! Here's the story. A couple of days ago, when I was in Riccarton Mall, I saw looked at the movie posters. There's a cinema in the mall. Shopping and cinema in the same building. Brilliant! Anyway, for some reasons Jumper looked like a movie I would enjoy. No idea about the plot or who's starring, just the poster looked nice. So much for not judging books by their cover.
Today after work I was talking to Lynda on the bus stop about the movie. She said we could go and watch it right away, so we did. The only problem was that we arrived at seven and the Jumper didn't start until nine. We had two hours to kill. So we went to K-Mart to get me a bike. Simple. It came in a big box and we carried it to the cinema. "Two adults and a bike." I tell you, Kiwis are amazingly friendly! It wasn't any problem at all to find a parking lot for it.
Speaking of which. Tino, who came to the movie, too, and who has a car (which is why Lynda called him in the first place, but never mind the details), was kind enough to give me and my bike in a box a ride home. Thanks, Tino!
Now all I need to do is assemble it and learn all these weird give way rules.
Oh, and I also bought a helmet!

Nah, I wouldn't have made you carry it. I would have jumped it home when you looked away :-D

K-mart in NZ? Excellent. That's like seeing C&A in Argentina. I bought my bike at K-mart in the US as well (very cheap, around US$60), and it lasted me about 4 years, so I think that was a good investment. Now it will go to the Salvation Army...
