2008-03-08 Bathroom Cafe

They took my blood! And they took my money, too! Okay, technically I had to give them the second in order to make them analyze the first. But still. All I got in return was... er... well, the right to spend 30 minutes in the waiting room. $49 for 30 minutes, that's $98 per hour. Not bad for a job that could be done by virtually anyone.

35 minutes later, approximately 100 grams lighter and very, very hungry, I decided to do something that has been on my list for quite some time now: have breakfast in a cafe. Believe it or not, I never did that before. So for my first time, I figured it had to be somewhere special. The Bathroom Cafe in Christchurch. Where the seats are toilet seats. Pretty neat idea, I've never seen anything like it. Great idea, but the seats are hard and uncomfortable. Go there, but bring a cushion.
I had the pancakes with fruits, and a mango juice. Yummy! No pictures, sorry.

Next stop: optometrist. I want new glasses, because (a) the ones I have at the moment are old and suck, (b) they're much cheaper here in New Zealand and (c) I want new glasses. And guess what. I found the perfect frame in under 20 minutes. That's less time than I spent in the waiting room this morning! Unfortunately, it costs the equivalent of three hours. Now I need to get my eyes checked, which they don't do on weekends, so I made an appointment for Friday afternoon. By the end of next week I'll have new glasses. Woot!

My attempt to buy a bike has failed. Because I'm neither a child nor a woman. Instead of bicycles for men they had a bunch of bike-shaped nothings on the rack at the Warehouse. It was tempting to buy a helmet, and I actually carried it halfway through the shop before I decided that it's silly, even for my standards.
