2007-12-08 Yet Another Christmas Party
Have you ever walked through the forest at night with a torch in your hand? The trees seem to fade into the stars and everything looks like taken right out of a fairy tale. It was the most romantic thing I did this year. At moments like this a girlfriend would have come in handy, I suppose. (But getting rid of a hamster, a car and a household is bad enough as it is, believe me.)
That was the beginning of the scuba diver club's Christmas party. There's not much to write about the rest. Wherever there is a Santa Claus, there is always this one over-motivated mother who's more excited about it than all the kids put together. Usually, she starts playing the recorder or singing Christmas songs (sometimes both!), makes the children recite a poem and gets on everybody's nerves. Personally, I think that's what mulled wine has been invented for.
Funny enough, only the board members got presents, but hey, less luggage is good, right?

My parents worry far too much. They keep nagging me about health insurance. Yes, it's important and all, but I'm not flying to the moon! They have health insurance in New Zealand, too. Getting one will be a simple matter of asking for it. Growing up was hard sometimes, but making my parents understand that I am is harder ;-)
