Blogging serves a purpose! I had just written two whole paragraphs about how confusing the words life and safety are spelled in their various incarnations:

noun, verb, adjective:
life, to live, live
safety, to save, safe

That was when I realized that it's all about the voicing. With a v it's voiced, with an f it's not. Simple! Pay attention in school or learn it the hard way...

I lost my way to our climbing hall today. Embarrassing, isn't it? It was dark and raining hard, so I kind of missed the exit. I left the highway at the next best chance and took another wrong turn. After a few hundred meters, when I finally switched on my GPS out of sheer desperation, it told me to turn around and go right back where I came from. That's when the police stopped me in a traffic check. Sascha was already waiting! Well, they told me that the exhaust emission check was due in November and that the left dim light is broken. Again. Gah!
